Council meets with Water Corp's

During a special July 24, 2018 meeting, the Forney City Council met and in summary:

  • Held a Work Session - Mr. Medford said the city and water districts have quarterly meetings, he realized there was a disconnect about growth plans. The city and districts have overlapping CCN's, if allow districts to add more infrastructure it becomes more expensive and complicated. This is a proactive event to allow districts to talk about their challenges.

    Initial Very brief summary: Linda Stewart of Highpoint would welcome the city to take over water service in the city limits, and even the ETJ. Brian Andrews of Markout would prefer the city to provide service in the city limits, and Markout needs to go away. Talty SUD (who couldn't be present) would prefer to have the city provide service in the city limits, according to comments they have made to Highpoint and Markout.

    Mayor Wilson suggested staff look into these requests. Mr. Thatcher said anything in ETJ would have to be under developer agreement, so could be tricky. That's why usually do on new developemnt. Mayor Wilson that's why they would talk about annexation. Mr. Andrews said need to get Mesquite in too, the way the dissected the area annexing along I-20, need to do what is best for land owners.
    Mr. Myers asked if Mr. Medford has considered a plan to move forward - Mr. Medford said this is the first step, to be sure everyone in agreement. Mayor Wilson said need to clarify that Talty views are in agreement with what was said tonight.

  • Board and commission appointments: Appointed Jaime Brown and Thomas Hoffman as members, and Cecil Chambers as alternate, to the Board of Adjustment; appointed Dianna Lawrence to the Park and Recreation Board; appointed John Carr to the North Texas Municipal Water District Board; appointed Anthony Shimkus to P&Z.
