Forney Parks Board has an informative meeting
During its regular Apr. 19, 2017 meeting, the Forney City Parks Board met and (this is the preliminary report, subject to change):
- Sports committee: Mr. Curry relayed a message from Mr. Cook that the FSA will be coming before the board soon, as they need to add two categories of soccer competition. They currently only provide Rec category, must add Academy and Club.
- Took no action re: Parkland Dedication From Mustang Place Phase II.
Mr. Curry said as the board is unwilling to accept flood plain as part of the park land, the developer has elected to pay fees in lieu of land. This will provide about $140k. Recent state court cases mean the fees may be used for any of the parks.
- Took no action re: Entering Into Partnership With FISD And The Positive Coaching Alliance.
Neither Coach Weaver or the Postive Coaching Allience rep. could attend the meeting tonight. The board watched two videos about the organization. The group would provide 3 work-shop series of year-long coaching sessions, 100 people per sessession, for under $4k. Currently, the only requirements for coaches is that facilities use agreement requires each assocations' coaches to agree to a code of ethics, and a background check.
- Mr. Curry said city manager Fisher will adress the board in May, regarding the strategic retreat, then he updated the board on the city's new mission, vision and value statements.
Mr. Curry said they have access to the house and Pinson Farm, and the movie star donkey Chester.
- Adjourned at 1932.
